Artifacts

Files v0 creates and shows you directly: reports, charts, calculators, datasets, documents. They sit next to your chat, not inside your app. This page is an artifact.

How it works

You don't need to ask for one. v0 picks the format that fits.

  1. 01
    Decide

A visual or file would answer better than text.

  2. 02
    Prepare

Inline results show a loading placeholder first.

  3. 03
    Write

The file is saved to /vercel/share/artifacts/, outside your project.

  4. 04
    Show

A snapshot is displayed. New edits get a new snapshot.

Formats

How each file type is rendered.

Inline or tab

Where an artifact appears depends on how you'll use it.

Inline

In the message, for things you look at.

  • Interactive explainers
  • Charts and comparisons
  • Generated images

Tab

Next to Preview and Diff, for things you read.

  • Markdown reports
  • JSON and CSV data
  • When you ask for a tab

Good to know

Snapshots
What you see is captured at show time. Earlier versions stay in the chat.
Sandboxed
HTML runs isolated. Assets load only from approved CDNs, with no access to cookies or v0.
Storage
localStorage is in-memory and resets on reload.
Size
Up to 5 MB per file.
Not app code
Features for your site go into the project and show up in Preview.
